The most beneficial and balance grain is brown rice (see note), which should constitute a large part of the diet. Other grains are also very beneficial and include millet, quinoa, corn, oats, and barley; all contain various anti-carcinogenic compounds and properties.
Note: the pH of blood is 7.4, which is slightly alkaline. The body must maintain this balance and any slight variation higher or lower can result in severe sickness and death. Brown rice has a pH similar to that of blood-----around 7.4 to 7.5-----which is why it is considered the most balanced food.
Protein
Cancer is fundamentally involved with malutilization of protein. Oncologist generally agree that the actual cause of death in cancer patients is cachexia, a condition of severe weight loss and wasting associated with protein malabsorption. In fact, cancer cells are able to grow by making amino acids of protein available for their growth at the expense of the body as a whole. Meat, especially red meat, being the most readily assimilable protein, becomes a banquet for cancer cells. Plant sources of vegetable protein, such as legumes and beans that contain cancer-fighting compounds, should be a prominent part of an anti-cancer diet.
Legumes and beans supply high-quality protein necessary to rebuild the tissues and maintain a healthy immune system. They are also an important source of insoluble fiber that slows the release of glucose into the bloodstream, keeping blood sugar levels in balance. It has been found that sugar speeds up the metabolism and causes tumors to grow at a much fast rate. Legumes also serve as protease inhibitors, which are protein-splitting enzymes found to be important to block cancer growth. Finally, legumes are an important source of such valuable phytochemicals as saponins, which tonify the immune system and inhibit the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) synthesis of cancer cells.
Another important source of protein is from fish, especially salmon, which is high in omega 3 fatty acids. Poultry with the skin removed is a less dense protein than is red meat and can also be occasionally used.

Cancer
Nutritional Therapy Recommendations - Part One

Herbal Tea
Red Clover, Burdock, Chaparral, and Pau D’ Arco
Simmer a handful of these herbs each morning in 3 cups of boiling water.
Have 1 cup three times daily.

Cruciferous Vegetables
Vegetables in the cabbage family (cruciferae) contain high amounts of anti-cancer constituents called indoles and isothiocyanates. They are also high in vitamins A, C, E, beta-carotene, anti-carcinogenic minerals and fiber. Best if they are cooked.

Dark Leafy Green Vegetables
Dark green leafy vegetables are high in chlorophyll and other anti-carcinogenic compounds and should be eaten daily, in both raw and cooked forms. This is a place to include herbs, such as dandelion, chicory, chickweed, malva, watercress, nettles, and mustard greens. In addition, romaine lettuce, arugula, and spinach are valuable.
Garlic and Vegetables in the Onion Family
In preparing dark leafy green vegetables, one can add chopped garlic, which is high in anti-carcinogenic sulfur compounds, including allicin. Other foods that contain similar compounds to a lesser extent include onions, leeks, chives, and shallots.

Fruits
Apples, grapes (with the seeds), apricots and especially apricot seeds, peaches, and berries all have powerful anti-cancer properties. They also tend to have a stronger cooling or anti-inflammatory effect, so they are best eaten in the season and climate in which they naturally occur. Frozen is the next best choice when in season, local is not available. Citrus peel contains D-limonene, which has powerful anti-cancer properties. It has been used in trial in England as a monotherapy for individuals with pancreatic and large-intestine cancer. Always use organic unsprayed citrus fruits, especially if you are going to use the peel. Orange, tangerine, or lemon rinds make a zesty condiment when grated into soups, salads, and sauces. They are also very beneficial for digestion and assimilation, which is very important especially during cancer therapy.

With Long Life

In Psalms 91: 16, God says, “With a long life will I satisfy him,
And let him behold My salvation.”

This is a direct promise from the Lord Himself. He not only wants you to live long on this earth but to also be satisfied with life.

There are no less than five cultures that are known as centurions. It is not un-common for these people to live to be 120 to 140 years of age, ‘disease free.’ It has been discovered that among these cultures they have at least 4 things in common:

1) They eat the food that is native to their region. They eat a variety of fresh whole fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. The foods are high in vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. There are no processed foods. No vending machines. No drive through windows. No sugary foods. Among these people there are no birth defects, no heart disease, no cancer, no diabetes, no Alzheimer’s; there are no cavities.
2) They are very social people. They take great concern in maintaining close relationships with family and friends. They work at nurturing and cultivating relationships. When they get together around a meal they may spend several hours just eating and socializing.
3) Also, they are very physical people. They do active work that helps to keep them in good physical condition.
4) Almost without exception those who live the longest are happily married.

I have said all that to say, “It’s possible.” Your body is programmed to know what it needs to live a long healthy live and if you will supply it with what it needs it will serve you as long as you need it to.

Fasting

Fasting: abstention from food, and often also from drink, for a longer than usual period.

Fasting can be much more than just doing without. It can be a way of cleansing the whole body system. You may be more familiar with what is known as detoxing. Many of the ailments and diseases that are plaguing our society today may be caused by an over-load of toxins. Toxins can enter into the body by several carriers such as: the environment (air pollution), chemicals in the food (pesticides, herbicides, processed foods), chemicals in the drinking water (industrial waste run-off, animal waste), medications, lack of exercise, shallow breathing, and stress, amalgam fillings. Toxins can accumulate in all body tissues causing a wide range of symptoms and disease. When you treat a sickness or disease you are only treating the symptoms, not the cause. It’s like saying you have a headache because your head hurts. That does not make any sense. Well, neither does treating a disease and not addressing the cause.

The best way to cleanse the body, and do it naturally, is to eat a variety of fresh leafy green vegetables, whole grains, fresh fruits, essential fatty acids (fish oil, flax seed oil), drink plenty of clean water. Exercise on a regular basis. Manage stress by relaxing and practicing deep breathing.

Avoid all processed foods, sugar and sugary foods and drinks, fried foods, dairy, and hydrogenated oils. Given the proper materials the human body has the amazing ability to heal itself.

Guard Your Heart

Can you believe it! Another year has passed and a new one has begun.

Maybe this has not been a stellar year for you. Maybe you have lost your retirement due to the stock market fall. Maybe you have had thoughts of giving up. Maybe you have felt like your life has been one step forward and two steps back. Around every corner of life there seems to be opportunities for disappointment. Well, take courage! Of all the things you may not be able to control, there is one think you do have control over; and that is your heart.

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. More than 50% of the deaths and disability from heart disease and strokes, which together kill more than 12 million people each year, can be cut by a combination of simple, cost-effective national efforts and individual actions to reduce major risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity and smoking.

Compelling evidence indicates that the following strategies are effective in preventing CVD, and in helping manage the disease:
Limit intake of saturated fats and trans-fatty acids
Increase consumption of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil or plant sources
Consume a diet high in fruits vegetables, nuts and whole grains, and low in refined grains
Avoid excessively salty or sugary foods
At least 30 minutes of regular physical activity daily
Avoid smoking
Maintain a healthy weight.

Proverbs 17:22 says, "A merry heart does good like medicine but a broken spirit dries up the bones."
A joy-filled inner being brings soundness to your whole body. In contrast, a broken, crushed spirit dries up the bones.

A merry heart begins by being a thankful heart.
